CWC's Noel Torres set to Wrestle at 2022 World Championship
STILLWATER – Noel Torres, a representative of the Cowboy Wrestling Club, will compete for Mexico at the upcoming 2022 Senior World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
Torres, a Division II national champion for Newman University, has been training in Stillwater with the CWC for two years, while competing in freestyle tournaments on the world stage.
Since moving to the Cowboy Wrestling Club, Torres has placed third at the 2021 Senior Pan-American Championships, and qualified for back-to-back World Championships in 2021 and 2022. At last year’s event, Torres went 1-1 in the 86 kg bracket with a 10-0 technical fall over Mark Onguyesi in his opening match.
Men’s freestyle will be the last discipline to get underway at the World Championships, beginning with the qualification rounds on the morning of Thursday, September 15. The 86 kg division will wrestle through the semifinals on Thursday with the repechage and medal round on Friday, September 16. The tournament will conclude with the final men’s freestyle weight classes on September 18. Fans can stay up to date with results and stream the 2022 World Championships at flowrestling.org.
